Stefan Johansson Vaxjo

When people think of Stefan Johansson, the first thing that comes to mind is racing legend. His thirty-plus year career in the sport includes Formula 1, Indycar, and sports car racing for a number of prestigious manufacturers and teams such as Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche, Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Audi and Acura. Among his memorable wins are at the 24 Hours of LeMans and two triumphs at Sebring.

An avid watch collector, Johansson was asked to endorse a Swiss watch brand while he was a Ferrari F1 driver. Not satisfied to merely lend his name and image, Johansson worked on the actual watch design. The project never came to fruition, but it sparked a lengthy meditation on what a racing-inspired watch should and could be. Today, his own brand, Stefan Johansson Växjö, is the only watch brand personally designed (not just endorsed) by an active professional racer. “I wanted to deliver a timepiece with character and personality, one that channels the spirit of the sport and its iconic events,” Johansson explains.
